When Jesus’ disciples asked him to teach them to pray, he taught them to say “Our Father in heaven…”
In prayer we depend on our loving heavenly Father who delights to hear His children speaking to Him, and works powerfully in response to our requests. That means the prayer meeting is the most important meeting of the church (after our Sunday services!),
Please join us on the first Wednesday of the month at:
- 7:45pm – 9:00pm – at St John’s Church.
- 11:45am – 12:30pm – at Emmanuel Church.
On other weeks of the month we encourage you to join a homegroup for Bible study and prayer.
Prayer is the chief exercise of faith. (John Calvin)
Prayer for children & youth
On the first Sunday of the month, after the 10am service, there is an opportunity to pray specifically for our work among children and young people. Grab a coffee, and come to join George & Judith who co-ordinate the meeting.
Praying on a Sunday
Our prayer team are available after the 10am service every week to pray about anything that is on your heart – big or small, happy or sad. Prayer requests won’t be shared without your knowledge. Find a member of the team wearing a blue lanyard at the front of the building, and they’ll be happy to listen and pray with you.
Praying through the month
Print copies of our monthly prayer diary are available in the Welcome Area at St John’s.
If you use the PrayerMate App, you can also subscribe to a St John’s with Emmanuel feed, with the same prayer points as the prayer diary.
PrayerMate is also a great way to organise the things you wants to pray about, get inspiration and become more consistent in prayer.
Here’s a short film introducing PrayerMate. Click the icon above to subscribe to our feed, or search for it in the app by going to: + Add > Church Life > UK Churches.
